I'm not saying you're adjusting the wrong thing because you are mixed up on where the adjusters are, I'm saying you might be adjusting the wrong knobs for the wrong reasons.

Damn dude, time for a daily driver. Could probably have gotten something for the cost of that Kognition wang Seriously though, any dampers nicer than the 8611s are probably going to cost exponentially more as well as possibly requiring even MORE frequent rebuilds. I don't think going all raced out is the best option for your only car that gets a ton of road miles when you're concerned that the current set of dampers is dead.

Exactly why I have scrapped a lot of ideas I had for my car, because I just don't want to turn it into a trailer only vehicle, and I would only get to drive it once or twice a month.

Which is why the Bilstein OTS dampers have become much more attractive to me at this point, over the 861x dampers, as they were designed for road use, and for much heavier cars than our S-chassis too haha

I haven't seen any reports of 861x dampers not standing up to road usage. They're the "hot" damper on tons of cars now. Even the 301x series stand up to road usage well it seems. The 281x stuff starts getting into the area where they are going to need frequent rebuilds - driven on or not.

Well, the Bilsteins are slightly less costly, and the rebuilds aren't bad either.

I guess I can wait a little while and save up that extra bit for the 8611/8610 combo though.

Just go 8610s if you're trying to save money. Compression adjustment is cool, but the 8610s aren't far off for out cars. Rebound adjustability is a must IMO.
