    After day 1:

I heard PJ had problems this morning in SSM, and he was off pace by a fair amount. The SM guys are doing well though! They still have tomorrow to run, but the standings so far put all the SM guys in a trophy spot. Keep it up!

It will never stop amusing me to see "old" cars on the same level as (and faster than) equally prepared modern performance cars.

Nice job to all out there!

According to the announcer on ustream they broke a front control arm on Tom's 2nd run.

      Tom's 3rd and PJ's 2nd and 3rd runs were in a borrowed Evo.

They got it back together in time for SM though which is awesome.

Tom jumped in a Lotus and I ended up in an Evo with 5/16 toe out in back. The car tried to kill me but at least we figured that out for their ASP runs tomorrow...

        Really hoping today goes better.

Big thanks to eye-5 for lending spare parts.

Panda didn't fare quite so well in SSM with Tom in 7th and PJ in 18th, but considering how many repairs had to be done on the car, I'm sure they were happy just to finish. (Truth told, if PJ hadn't used the cones to drive by braille, he'd have finished fourth. But that's a bit mean to mention, so I'll just keep that to meself. )

One of my local friends and coworkers, Zach Sober, pulled off a 2nd in XP in only his second time to drive the car. he coned his fastest run, but it didn't change his finishing position- he still would have been 0.1xx out of the lead even without the cone. Just imagine how he'd do if he had more than 4 min of seat time in the car before Nationals started.

Congrats on the good showing guys! Those old S-chassis can still give Godzilla a run for his money!!

My car decided to injest a throttle body screw and pound it into my #3 spark plug after our 2nd practice run. The throttle body actually broke causing the loose screw. We couldn't find the screw and couldn't find a replacement throttle body. Needless to say we couldn't run. At least we were able to help out Ace when he lost a TC rod. Pretty disappointed because the car was feeling great on those practice runs. After watching SM, I feel we stood a good chance at the trophies.

We were able to meet PJ, David White, Jason & Russell. All were stand up dudes. Jason did a great job getting 2nd over David White and the all mighty GTR of Eric Hyman.

Oh and PJ has an entourage. At all times there were like 6 guys with G Fab shirts on hovering around Panda or whatever it is called now that it is all white. Pretty impressive, they were like a pro team.

It's been a dream of mine to make it out to Nat's, it was great to finally get out there and meet everyone (PJ, David, Ryan, Todd & the entire G-fab crew...)

Hopefully next year I'll be able to attack the cones hard enough to show the cars true pace. Even though my raw times were not very fast, I'm happy that I was able to place high on the podium via strategy, (conservative approach). Usually I attack as hard as I can and try to win with raw speed, however it became evident quite quickly on day two, that weather would play a huge role into the finishing order. A very high concentration of cone penalties put my competition into a hole that they could not climb out of once it started to rain.

I'm going to have to give credit to Eric's straw hat that Laurie let me have. All of that dominating GTR Pro-Solo mojo, and Hyman smarts wore off on me, I guess...
