  • DefSport 861x M55 Threaded Sleeve Purchase Thread!

    I figured I'd make a new thread to keep things easier to track.

    The housing and perches are all here, and I've gone through and done a 25% inventory spot check and everything seems bang on. I've spent the time bagging hardware ahead of orders coming in, so it should go out as quickly as I can get the orders filled and boxed. I only have about 1 hour a night to work on this, so please be patient with orders going out.

    Threaded Sleeve Particulars:
    *Fits Koni 8611-1257 and 8610-1463 struts
    *External thread is M55x2 mm
    *Snap ring and stainless steel shim included
    *Gland nut is the Koni M48x1.5mm size (not included, Koni P/N 73.25.01.003.1)
    *You supply Koni 8611-1257 or 8610-1436 strut and Koni Gland nut (see above point) to complete sleeve/strut assembly

    Perch Particulars:
    *Fits 2.5" ID springs
    *Uses M6 socket cap pinch bolt to hold itself
    *Anodized gunmetal grey for additional wear resistance
    *Replaces the typical M55 spring perch and locking ring to hold it all together
    *Torque spec is ~4-5 ft-lbs on the bolt, it only needs to hold the perch, do not overtigthen it!

    Pricing:

    Summary of pricing: flat $300/pair shipped (in USA) for threaded sleeves.

    $80/pair shipped (in USA) for M55 spring perches.

    All who gave me an early deposit get a $20 credit as a DefSport thank you.

    Some people already put a deposit down for front brackets of $150. I'll apply this towards your purchase of sleeves and give an extra $20 credit as a thank you for the early deposit. Here are the people I have deposits from:

    Number Date Name SN
    1 25-Jul Ross R turtl631
    2 27-Jul Robert S 240sxTTC
    3 31-Jul Jesse C Dark Horse (?)
    4 31-Jul James C JSC
    5 7-Aug Raymond S ?????
    6 7-Aug Evan B EBELL240
    7 3-Dec Kevin B diggles240
    8 24-Aug Nate K knate

    And clotuning, I've got your set already set aside since you paid for it.

    I've decided to include the SS shims for all struts, just because I view it as an integral part of the design once I got it all put together without the shims. The snap ring wasn't loaded in complete shear, and I'd hate to have someone bend a snap ring out of the sleeve and have the damper banging around.

    Street pricing for the perch + locking ring from Stance is about $115ish, so I feel this is a better design and cheaper for someone purchasing everything new.

    Example of someone purchasing 4 sleeves, 4 perches who did not preorder:

    $300/pr sleeve * 2 + $80/pr perch * 2 = $760 shipped

    Example of someone purchasing 4 sleeves, 4 perches who did preorder:

    $300/pr sleeve * 2 + $80/pr perch * 2 - $20 thankyou credit = $740 shipped - $150 deposit = $590 remaining balance to pay

    Paypal is jfannon at gmail dot com (substitute symbols). Please note your NRR S/N and what your order is for. I cannot fulfill orders that have no information attached to them.

    As I said, I'll get these out as quickly as possible once I get orders in, but everything is HERE and ready to go.

    7" spring on prototype sleeve and DefSport perches. 8610-1436 shown, if you want zero preload, go with 8" springs or 7" and a tender spring:

                        Hey Def,
                        So I was really hell bent on buying these sleeves back when they were announced. My situation has changed since then. One of my problems is that the inserts are overkill for my current plans and frankly too expensive for me. Do these sleeves work with any less expensive dampers? Are there yellows that would fit them?

                        Edit: On the topic of price, does anyone have a source for these race inserts? I'm finding very little with a google search.

                        Edit2: After struggling hard to find the 8610 you listed, I am about 90% sure you mixed up the part number. Shouldn't it be 8610-1436? This seems to be the spec sheet.

                          I'll double check the 8610 p/n when I get to a computer, but it's the shortest 8610 race damper available - easy to find.

                          8610s are a good fit, and it honestly puts this setup roughly in range of the "popular" mass market coil over options, with way better performance.

                            yea theyre 8610-1436 and I ordered mine over the phone from shox.com, I think he charged me $208 each one.

                            I swapped to these from my stance coilovers and its such a huge difference between the two. trust me man, its well worth it

                              Do you mean "in range" by price? I have to disagree. Maybe if you are comparing them to KWs, but just quick math says:

                              Sleeves= 600
                              Inserts= 800
                              Hardware, upper mounts, lower mounts = At least 600
                              Springs= 250

                              Lets just say ballpark $2k MIN.

                              I know I'm asking a lot, but that is a lot of money for me. I'm starting to think about converting some of my current coilover components into a Bilstein kit. I think i could get under 1500 if I do enough of it myself.
