  • 1996 240SX Road Race car for sale (Houston, TX area)

I bought this car in 2002 as a street car, and have built it into a regionally competitive SCCA Club Race car.
However, I've since bought an RX7 and the agreement with the wife was than when I got the RX7 on track and running well, the 240 has to go.. so here we are.

    Brief history of the car:
Purchased in 2002 with clean title, blown engine @ 90k miles.
Put a 70k mi engine in the car (mileage verified- helped the guy pull it for an SR swap), and drove the car daily for ~3 years. Eventually, it turned into a track-only car and in 2009-2010 I caged it to go racing.

Since 2010, car has run ~45 SCCA sprint races and finished every race. Has also run a gazillion DEs, SCCA and WRL enduros, and various non-SCCA local races. Stone-cold reliable. NEVER A DNF!! It's not terribly fast overall, but I finish better than a lot of faster cars because I actually finish!

Many SCCA National/ Majors wins, several 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

Lap times for comparison for the local guys:
    MSR-Houston: 1:47 both directions
    TX World Speedway: 1:59
    TX Motor Speedway: 1:39
    Eagle's Canyon: 2:11
    Harris Hill: 1:32
    Hallett: 1:28
Sebring Long: 2:36 (back when car was in street trim on street tires. Drove car to/from Houston to Sebring)

The car is listed first, spares are listed separately. Car buyer gets first chance at the spares, and I'm not pulling any parts from the list until the car buyer chooses to take or leave them.

    The car: 1996 240SX

Yeah I had it around somewhere, just not sure if I ever bothered putting it up for sale here... not exactly the market, ya know? (most everyone here already has a car- why would they want another one?!)

I hear you. I like to post as many places as possible. You gotta whore it out!

I ended up selling my S13 endurance racer through Craigslist of all places.

...oh, I'll buy that splitter if you want to pull it off

Because we are here to help other friends make bad decisions.

My wife let me build this car with her full support!
And it's the cheapest running cost of any race car I've owned so far... so there's that...
