Exedy is one of the OEMs for Nissan, as well as UNISIA.. Exedy also makes the discs (if not more) for ACT, but are built to the specs of whoever orders it.

I had a bunch of pics around here a while back of the various Exedy discs I've seen for the Maxima.. OEM, ACT street disc, Exedy oe, stage I, stage II, and others.

They have different marcels, number of springs in the hub, fricition material composition and thickness, and etc.. all different, even though they look the same on the surface.

You know it's really funny because this is sounding a lot like the people (about 5 people in the group) who put me down and told me what a big mistake it was to use EMPEI axles in our TRACK rat POS g20 (about how they would fail fast and I'd be sorry and have to get the proper axles).. It was playing out like a commercial/strong sales pitch for RAXLES. Now I've heard about raxles for the b13 Sentra (which was known to have a weak point in the axles) and even heard of Raxles for drag racers (which made more sense than for a G20)

At any rate, the EMPEI passenger axle is still going strong and we only just had to replace the driver axle after over 7500 track miles (not bad for only $40 on an axle if you ask me and I have nothing to complain about there since race parts have to be replaced more frequently anyway).

I told those 5 people, that's fine.. I get it you hate the EMPIE (or is it EMPEI?).. and I guess if they fail soon, you get to be vindicated and say " I told you so " but that didn't happen.

Maybe you'll get your chance to say " I told you so" but maybe you won't.. time will tell..

At any rate, the clutch is installed and we aren't going to replace it unless/until we need it.

On the other setup (Centerforce) the weak link was the Throwout bearing so we had to dig into the tranny anyway just to replace the TOB anyway...

My guess is the TOB will start to sing before the clutch gives us an issue but we shall see...

I didn't relaly think I was coming across like that, but if that's how you see it, then so be it. I haven't had good luck with them in the Maxima, but if they work for you then great. I hope it lasts forever.

I never wish parts breakage on anyone- I've had enough crap break on my car and that gets expensive to spend several hundred in entry fees, another several hundred to tow a car there, then another several hundred in hotels... only to break something and drag it home. no thanks.

Which was the reasoning for my comments. I've had bad experiences with the type of part you used, so I thought I'd offer a fair warning. But if it works for you, then great. I just hate to see someone put something in and be disappointed later.

          alright then.. noted... thanks

and yeah, well.. missing a shift and scattering an engine is about the biggest 'ruin your day' that has happened to us so far.. lol

The g20 is a drive to/from the track and we have AAA Plus and the track was 87 miles away (so free towing up to 100 miles)

Our spec miata must be towed and for the moment we have a truck and 1 car trailer.

We are fortunate enough to have 6 tracks with 2 hour driving distance that do NOT require an overnight stay and are within 100 miles! (blackhawk, Milwaukee mile, Road america, and then there is Autobahn (north track, south track or combined track)

          ...but anyway.....

well, yesterday got as far as getting ready to install into the car...

but today actually got the motor reinstalled into the car (now all the other work to do still)

          photos for anyone interested:

Beautiful thing isn't it... AAA+. I've gotten to use it twice now in 4 years to get home from the track after eating a head gasket and a turbo, and as you I live about 90 miles from the local track.

yeah.. funny thing the tow truck drivers usually are not too happy about the long drive ahead of them.. oh well..

Tell them they can take it up with AAA when they collect their tow fee.

well, just thought I'd give an update..

We just put 3 track days on the g20 and no problems whatsoever with the clutch (no slipping or other issues)..

AND we didn't take it easy shifting and won 1st place Saturday and Sunday for Time Trials with NASA

Here is some video for those who didn't see it in the video section:
