Figured some folks on here might be interested in this.
Northwest Region (NWR) SCCA Drift - http://www.nwr-scca.org/drifting/
After seeing the info that was up at sccadrift.com (not currently online) about the work Jamey Cicalese was doing to run drift events in he Middle GA SCCA region in 2007 under the SCCA Drift pilot program I decided to approach the local SCCA chapter and see if I could start some new events.
for more information read the
SCCA Drift National Rules (http://umai.kakudo.googlepages.com/2007sccadriftrules.pdf)
I approached the Northwest Region (NWR) SCCA SOLO officials and pitched the idea of starting drift events to them in September of 2007. Despite being predominantly older die hard autocrossers they loved the idea and voted to create a Drift Committee to get the events started.
With feedback from area drifters I developed our own regional drift supplemental rules and they were voted on and approved in December of 2007.

We just had our first ever event on 4/5. It was a Drift School for new drifters at Bremerton Motorsports Park (http://www.bremertonmotorsportspark.com/). It was very successful with all the drivers having a great time and learning the basic skills very rapidly.

We're working on getting the next date and running an open practice event in May or June.
I've been in touch with our division's SCCA Board member and our region has consulted with Jamey and figured out all the necessary details to implement, insure, sanction, and run a SCCA drift event.
If anyone is interested in starting a SCCA drift program with their local region feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to share my suggestions and experience with you.
Be sure to look us up if you are ever in Seattle!
