This thread will be used to discuss the blogs/modifications performed as the B13 4 door makes the transition into a race car.

Removing parts off the old car was not as easy as I hoped it would be. For one...I didn't have air tools out at my parents house where the car had to be delivered because I didn't have enough space in my garage (someone else's car is currently occupying that location). For two...it seems every bolt had decided to weld itself into place with rust, as the car has been sitting for a year uncovered. I purchased an electric impact which worked wonders despite only having 250 ft lbs of torque it has worked flawlessly. It is a little cumbersome due to it's size but we've managed to get onto every bolt necessary thus far.

If you have any more tough bolts, consider using a mini torch to help things out some... of course I'm always a fan of the recipical saw :)

If you can get access to the nut side of the bolt, it's amazing what a wire wheel - in conjunction with a bit of heat as just mentioned - will do to free things up. Strip that rust off and instead of twisting off, most will freely come off.

I think I've removed the majority of the difficult ones, but it never hurts to have...just in case.

A happy soul that the motor is out of the donor car http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1132.preview.JPG http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1133.preview.JPG

We spent a while discussing yesterday the eventual outcome of this project, and decided we'll want more power than the GTiR T28 will be able to manage. For longevity purposes I'll use another log manifold, like the one currently on my B14. For a turbo I'll go either with the indispensible Turbonetics 50 trim, SC50, or similar setup. I don't think I would ever need more than 400 whp on a road course out of a FWD, but right about that I think would be perfect.=) These turbo changes will mandate a change in diff and transmission as well, from the stock B13 trans to a B15/P11 trans with a Nismo diff.

Does that mean you have a GTiR set-up for sale? :)

Does that mean you have a GTiR set-up for sale? :) Sorry, but it doesn't...I hadn't gotten around to picking that setup up yet. So it's straight from the T25 to the larger frame turbo next year.

Some parts for the car are starting to show up in the garage... http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1167.preview.JPG http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1168.preview.JPG

The 10:1 is out of the car and the 9.5:1 is getting prepped to go into the car. I forgot how much easier engines are to pull w/o power steering, a/c, or the majority of the emissions garbage. It was much quicker than pulling the other one.

I tapped the block on the 9.5:1 for the turbo's oil drain line.

I actually cheated and tapped the block while it was sitting on the ground, since the other motor and the hoist were in the way of having it in a proper position. http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1197.preview.JPG http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1207.preview.JPG

Good stuff. My friend just did the same thing on his KA (tapped into the block, rather than the flimsy pan). I like it since you don't have to worry about the oil level blocking off the drain line, and you can get a better angle for the drain. Why the hose barb, though? No AN fittings for the drain line? I had a turbo blow out on me from the line kinking up against something, and almost had the line ripped off by debris (i.e. cones). I opted to go AN fittings with braided steel lines afterwards (never finished my front splitter/ motor protection).

The KA is a little harder depending on where your turbo is located...but definately feasable. As for the barbed fitting...i was lazy and it's what I could get a hold of yesterday.=) Thankfully there isn't anything else between the front of the block and the drain line to kink up on with a FWD. I do intend to get a splitter on the car to insure there isn't anything able to come flying up that way though. Good stuff. As things seem to be in constant flux with these projects...like everyones... The T25 setup is out the window entirely before even getting installed. Now it's on to the bigger turbo. T3/T04E 50 trim with a .82 turbine housing, a FMAX log manifold, and 2.5" FMAX downpipe. Should be enough to squeeze out 400 whp with, even with the smaller downpipe.

Made some quick blockoff plates for the EGR. They only have to be there until I find a JDM intake to replace the stock one (which has no EGR to begin with) or until I make an custom one and be done with it. http://nissanroadracing.com/files/images/CIMG1227.preview.JPG
