There's been some talk of Hoosier introducing a new tire size to fill some gaps for shorter diameter, taller tires. Thought some might be interested:

I shot an e-mail to Jeff Speer asking about the possibility of a 315/30R17 and got the following for a response:
PJ – thanks for the input. I am currently looking into this option and hope to have a decision next month.
Stay tuned to our Product Bulletin portion of our website for any news of new sizes in our A6 / R6 product line.

Fingers crossed for a wide tire that fits up front with zero frame clearance issues :)

That 275/30/17 tire (or around that size) is more than likely one they will produce since there is a lot of interest in that tire for a lot of SP cars. Send your emails into Jeff - he does respond and that is how he get's his bosses to listen to produce new tire sizes. From what I hear they are taking the 245/40/17 mold and adding 2 inches to the center making it wider than the 285.
I know on the 255 - on my 10.5" rim it is less than 1/4" narrower than the 285 on the same rim.

I'm really hoping the go with a short 315. 23x12x16 seems like the best size ever invented for high powered small cars, but it's only available as a slick in one (hard) compound. I would love to see something comparable in at least an autox compound, preferably DOT.
I don't really see why we need another short 275 just to clear bigger brakes. Aren't brakes open in most classes that would use that tire anyway?
Of course if their "275" is in fact 11+" wide, I guess we can't complain lol

In for the 275/30/17s. Especially if they end up wide.

Should be good for square setups in SM too. I've wanted to do 275s all around but have dreaded running a 25.5" tire upfront (15s too short for my gearing). Been running 275 (25.5" tall) in the rear with either 245/225 A6s on the front (24.5" tall) and I've been planning on doing a new wheel setup in hopes of a more neutral tire setup.
So ya, I'll send in an email for a 275/30/17. Of course, as of right now, I'm just in the used tire market :)
