180SX SR20det
9.0:1 CR
BC 264 cams
STI 540cc injectors
S15 turbo @ 12psi
stock ECU
SAFC 1
FMIC and 3" exhaust

i plan to build my next motor after this to run higher comrpession 10:1 or 11:1 and maybe 14psi through the turbo along with having the crack knife edged to help redude roational mass. Hopefully that wont be for over another year, but we will see i suppose.

Any suggestions for me besides some for of "real" tuning. I also plan to switch to Tec GT next year or AEM EMS universal kit, not the drop in SR kit (CAS pick up issues)

AEM Cas issues seem to have been addressed with the new cas wheel that you can get for free. i haven't gotten one, but i haven't heard of more complaints.fwiw

That torque curve looks particularly lazy. What rpm are you hitting full boost? Are you using the stock mafs or a Z32 mafs with that SAFC? Your peak numbers look good. I'd just expect to see about 50 ft-lbs more at 3500rpms.

When you say "motor," you mean the VQ35, right? :D

stock MAFS, and im not really sure when i hit full boost somewhere around 3200 maybe. more torque would be nice, and maybe im missing that because of the leaking headgasket i had. I do not plan to redyno after i replace the headgasket though, too much from my point of view for tuning an SAFC.

I just looked through all of our plots and they all say 170ft-lbs at 3000rpms and over 220ft-lbs at 3500rpms. I'm sure that timing isn't ideal with the SAFC and stock ECU. Especially with cams, bigger snail, and higher CR, all of which affect timing. You sure those cams are timed correctly? That's a lot of power to lose to just timing.

As far as your plans, I'd persue the TecGT / AEM before you start thinking about higher CR and hacking at your crank. The car is going to drive a lot differently with proper timing and about 1bar of boost. That should be good for about 270tq and 300hp with your cams and compression.

BTW, I'm a track noob. Come down to Sebring and teach me to drive!

i timed the cams mechanically, i mean if they are off it by alot sinec it would be 2 chain links. and when we did igntiion timing i did 15* BTDC at 1k rpm. There is a possibilty its off a lil because of having the head shaved 0.040", but i cant really adjust it more without camgears, and my headgasket was bleeding boosted air into the cooling system, so i was deff loosing power there i think.

if you plan on doing some HPDE's or at least one i could consider making the rediculous trip down.

I was just joking about making the trip down. That's a long drive!

Headgasket is probably keeping you a bit down in power across the board. I wouldn't worry about the cams and shaved head. If you know that you're leaking compression/combustion past the gasket, I'd be concerned about crevice erosion / flame channeling / hurting the block from hot gasses going by.

the block and head were both fine, no real issues going on there. no signs of damage basically. Hopefully the new cosworth HG i installed last night did the trick.

up and running again, changed the HG and water pump. Installed my fan shroud and mechanical fan. I have a vac. leak somewhere i have high idel and it consistantly searching from 1400-1800rpm.

hopefully a new IM gasket will fix it since all my vac lines are attached and not cut...as far as i know.
