Ok so I am in need of either a machine shop with a torque plate for a ka24de or if someone on here has one I can borrow/ rent it would be much appreciated. I am just outside of Knoxville, TN at 37840.

Mods this can be deleted, I found an old friend still running his shop with what he calls a boring bar. This is a almost universal old school tool. I felt kind of silly when he said what is that and how do you use it (talking abot the torque plate). He then politely explained the boring bar to me. $12 a whole and 60 for a bath are his prices.

A boring bar doesn't replace the need for a torque plate...
So who is going to take care of the honing???

Tower I am waiting on ups for delivery of my supertechs 89.5 mm. Then I will go and look at earls setup. I rem a plate of some kind that looked like a lego set when I was in there in like 92. Your concern is greatly appreciated, it sucks being in hickville for things like this. If the setup is shady I will look towards Nashville, TN for a shop. A person on KA-T.org has a plate for rent but I dont have the deposit amount he wants.

Couldn't you have one made by chopping up a spare head from a u-pull-it yard?
If not, someone please explain how to make one. I really want to have one for when I send my parts off to the machinists.

I would imagine that drilling a 3.5" hole through a head would be difficult to say the least.
And the machine shop would just laugh at us for suggesting that 1.
I doubt a head would structurally survive that.

Knoxville is home to a bajillion dirt race shops. up in the Nw, they use the KA in mini sprints, and they put out 300+hp....
maybe start calling the dirt track engine shops and see what kind of luck you have with finding one. it's worth a couple hours at least.
I know of two KA plates here in Houston area, one was custom made for a KA-E, but they're the same as a KA-DE. (the owner is using a KA-E head on a DE block)
I'm not sure if he'd be willing to loan/rent it, but if you can't find one let me know and I'll ask him.

I have a head you can have/use. I might even try to bore said holes in it and see how it comes out. I robbed a dowel plug for one of the oil ports, so it's junk now.
