Ok, I've been working on trying to get my 8611s together for about 7 hours now and I am COMPLETELY fed up.

Some questions:
- Where in hell can I get a few SIMPLE 14MM WASHERS?! I've been to about 4 hardware stores today and I turned up with nothing. The only thing I've been able to use that allows some movement at the plate are some 1/2" lock washers that were grind down.
- How independent is the camber plate supposed to be from the shock? The rubber top hats on my World Sports turned freely and on their own, the Tein plates on the Konis don't (whole shock turns).

If anyone has any suggestions, please share them. I will post some pics later tonight of what I have so far, I'm just too frustrated to even look at these things anymore. It feels like whichever way I try to put these together is the wrong way.

Go with a 9/16" washer - it's a close enough ID. Just make sure it's hardened. If you can't find that size, 1/2" washer + cheap Harbor Freight step bit is great for making custom sized washers(it's how I did all mine out of NAS washers).

It should turn fairly easily. Most cheap spherical bearings need to be broken in some(articulated and rotated for a while) to get them moving. That said, spherical bearings hate rotating with an axial load on them(i.e. with the suspension weight on them and asking them to rotate). That's why I recommend a proper thrust washer of some sort like a torrington bearing. Check out my install thread for some pics.

Ace Hardware is the only place here that carries anything metric, so that's my go to place when I'm in a pinch.

Alright, I just threw the Torringtons on (on spring perch) and it's the same issue. The plate tilts fine, but it doesn't spin around on its own at all unless the whole assembly moves together.

I'm thinking the bronze sleeves need sanded down? They sit in the spherical bearing tight.

That's not the issue. You probably just need to break the bearings in a bit.

What plates are you using?

Tein.

Def was right. These bearings are REALLY stiff. I FINALLY got them to turn after holding the shock down in a vice and really using some elbow grease.

I think in the next couple weeks I'll get some camber plates that don't suck.

Almost all cheaper spherical bearings will be really tight like that. I've even felt some really really expensive ones with lots of breakaway torque.
