Can anyone from WA advise me on the Tacoma area. I'll be working on Mcchord AFB so I'll be looking at living within 15 miles from the base. What area(s) should I avoid? Is there any rallyX, autoX, or track evernts in the area? Thanks...

You get a garage? There tends to be a lot more car theft (and 240 theft) in WA as of late.

Ask some advice from the guys on northwestnissans.com, there quite a few guys from that area. They can give you good recommendations as to where you should live. Tacoma, as Alex said, has been suffering a great deal of 240 theft.
When will you be moving this way?

Neighborhood and garage are my first priorities when looking at places to stay. I'll be in WA late May if everything goes as planned.
I was browsing the PIR site and I hope I can make it to a few of the BMW or Porsche Club track days. Any advice on memberships, registration, etc.?

Join the BMW club, or Cascade...most track dayers carry their memberships with those two.

You've got PR (Pacific Raceway) which is a fun track to drive on. Prices are reasonable and the Alpha club allows for the use of transponders in the intermediate and advanced groups.
Your not to far from PIR (in Portland), and they are repaving this one and making a few updates to it this year.
I'm about 6 hours away, so I'm not the best on advice... but I do know that PR is a very fun to drive :)

Repaving is already complete, and everything has resumed as before on it.=)

Wow...PR is 30 mins away! Good thing the job I'm taking comes with a raise.

We drove both of our cars (93 240 + trailer and 93 Imreza Wagon) from Florida to So Cali and with the exception of my fender liner coming off everything went smooth. I was surprised to note the drive comfort went down the drain once I got the car into the city (So Cali). Looks like I forgot how crappy the streets are back home. The cross country drive with 450/350 setup and a fixed back Momo Corse seat was surprisingly comfortable. I'll be headed up to WA in a few weeks. Anyone in Oregon know of a decent spot to stop between San Fran and Tacoma?

You'll probably wind up crashing in Eugene/Portland.
I just drove back from So. Cal on Friday and we crash in Sacramento on the way back. Then drive home from there. It takes about 10 hrs roughly from Sac. to Portland, and about 3-4 more to Seattle from there. Eugene would put you about half way from Seattle to San Fran.

Well...my 240sx tow rig and my second car made it from FL to WA. Super busy with work but I hope to get out to an event within a month.
