Bah, what's...20 hrs. Yeah, agreed. Giant pain in the ass, but sooooo worth it. Much nicer rails, infinitely better seating position (I'm sitting in the front seat now, instead of the back!) and super, super low. I'm very happy. Can't wait til the next revision!! Alex

hey guys, new to the forum thought id let you know i went to extensive work to cut out my floor pan and mount my seat a mear 2.5" off the floor and require a decent bit of head room because i plan to have my cage completed next year and my head needs to be below the main hoop an A-pillar bars according to the rules. MY new seat setup has me back far enough to fit and low enough to have enough clearence with my helmet on. i had to cut the floor out, just a little bit, install mounting bars (seat subframe idea) and then bolt the seat to those. After all was said and done, i have to adjust my exhaust with some new piping to fit with the new floor design. i tried to se teh stock locations at first and make my own rails, but i couldnt get the front low enough to actully get me some decent head clearence.

The longest part of making a seat bracket/rail is measuring and trying to make sure the seat is all centered/level etc.

I made my passenger side bracket.

Protip: you can separate the brackets from the stock seat and use those welded to some 1" x .125" steel for a "base."

Rails? who needs rails?
I just bolted my seat directly to the floor. drill two holes in the bottom of the seat and screw into some bungs welded to the floor.

voila.

http://blehmco.com/pics/240SX/roll_cage/DSCN0153.jpgI know it doesn't matter much since it's covered by a seat, but that cat hump bang-out looks like sh*t. :)

Damn.... Mr. Hard Parker himself just dissed your metal banging skillz.

They weren't mine. the shop did that.
I wound up having to bang a lot of it back up to fit a factory exhaust back on there for a short while.

But yes.. it's ugly. Now ask me if I care. :)
