Thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Joe, I'm 26 and currently going to school for mechanical and electrical engineering so let's just say I'm a lifer lol. Anyway I am a member on many other nissan forums and do a little bit of fabrication as time permits. I mostly drift/track my s14, the s13 I'm building just to sell, and the gs300 is a permanent garage fixture as I don't have the money to do much with it. I'll be moving to TX hopefully here in a few weeks to go to school as I'm trying to get in to UTx Austin...didn't get in this semester as I have to bring my gpa up a tad. I'm very interested in talking to some of the fwd guys as they're knowledge of tuning is alot better it seems than some of the rwd guys...although we know a good bit too...fwd guys have been doing it since the sr20 first came to our shores and they also have knowledge pertaining to the forerunning engines. Anyway it's nice to be here and I look forward to learning and sharing some of my knowledge as well with the community.

Anyway here are some pics in my photobucket...http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/jgauspohl/

Welcome!

Wow, the first picture that came up when I clicked your photobucket was a dogs poop-chute lol. I HATE the new format!

Looks like you got some projects on your hands. Welcome to the site. Lots of good info here. I just joined, and have learned quite a bit in the short time I've spent here.

Welcome!

Although I'd disagree that the FWD SR guys know more about engine tuning than RWD guys. I know enough to get me by (ME undergrad, quite a bit of formal ICE education, tuning SRs for 6 years now), but there are quite a few of RWD SR guys that know way more about most of it than I do.

Most FWD SR guys just smooth out the (HORRIBLE) factory maps and adjust the k-value and injector latency from what I've seen. Wrong way to go about it for sure.

Damn FWD tranny....

Umm yeah, there's tons of RWD SR guys that know their stuff. the problem is they're usually the quiet ones on the forums- or they're not on forums at all. the ones running their mouths about how good they are are usually the ones that spin it till it blows, then build another and stop 100rpm lower.

ya I only get on forums to sell stuff and find stuff to buy really ...and really I just now got back into...I've been out of it for about 2 years and the car has been sitting because I was waiting to find a p12 ve setup for the right price...built the s13 blacktop to the max and well lets just say I didn't like the rocker arms and they didn't like me...it should be going back together here real shortly and I'll actually be heading to TX with it...to finish up school. Hopefully I can pick up a Titan or Tundra crew cab when I get down there so I can park it...I don't like driving it much on the street...it gives me a headache unless I'm having fun in it.

If you move to Austin and buy a full size japanese truck, you WILL be run out of town by sandal-wearing hippies in Priuses, Volvos, and Subarus.

The good news is you're not far from a pretty freakin awesome track... Check out http://harrishillroad.com/
bunch of old skool Datsun fanbois hang out there, so you'll be in good company there.

How many times you been there?
It's Texass, so you're allowed a truck. but it better be domestic...

Been there plenty of times...mostly San Antonio...Austin I've been to twice...I was there for nearly a week this last time..I have to say though I'm not looking forward to gridlock traffic. Funny stereotype reference though...I'm from the West Coast so I just could care less lol, I've lived just about everywhere due to both my parents being in the military...I think I'll manage lol

Personally if I was wanting an engineering degree from TU I would go TU-Arlington. It has a lot more focus on engineering and sciences versus the hippie movie school. Orrrrr you could go to Texas A&M, get involve in a champion formula hybrid team, and have Texas World Speedway just a couple miles south of town, of course i favor the later.
