Hey, my name is Dave. I am from Indiana, but live in Kansas now(not by choice). I am in the Army and work on the weapon systems and everything electrical on the Apache Helicopter. They made me move to Kansas, but now I am only an hour away from Heatland Park. I currently own a 93 R1 RX-7, its for sale. I put a LS1/T56 in it and a few other things. I also just recently picked up a 90 240sx coupe, that is the new project replacing the FD. I have a lot of plans for it, but for have to wait until I return to the states. I am deployed to Iraq right now. I want to get the 240 set up to do track days mostly, auto-x and drag every once in a while. Planning on another LS1, lots of tire, big brakes, and some good suspension. I have done one track day a few years back in my civic, and got hooked. I did a couple auto-x's in the FD, but just isn't the same. I was getting really frustrated trying to find good technical information, cause lets face it, the majority of the 240 community sucks at life. But thankfully I stumbled across this forum. I have already learned a lot and will hopefully learn more and hope to contribute where I can.

Welcome!

Help me understand why you don't want to keep the RX-7. Swapping in a LS1 pretty much makes it the perfect track car (after you address oiling issues, that is).

I understand your plans for the 240, but why? Dear God, why?!?! :)

lol, I know, if I could get my 12,000$ of wasted dollars I would have an rx7 FD right now.

But since I'm already in deep poo, I'm going to go hardcore and spend the rest of the dollars on the 240 heh...

I'm in the same boat. Not only do I have the rollbar in now, but engine-less FD3S's are ludicrously-priced.

Not that there's anything wrong with the 240. I heart it foe show.

Welcome!

I hear you guys on the FD stuff - but even without the 13B in there you still must have deeper pockets than you would modifying an S13/S14. Plus it's not exactly cheap to do more than bolt-ons to an LS1!

Haha, yes I know that the FD is a better car to build. But they are just too expensive. I have a little over 20k in mine and it still needs more. To get the car where I want it, I will put another 10k in it. I know that I can build a 240 to be a lot faster for less money, ish. The biggest thing is that I really never loved the FD. I like it, but thats it. It never really clicked with me. It was bought on an impulse to begin with. I was trying to decide between the FD and a 240, should have bought the 240 then, oh well. I would rather just cut my losses and start over with a car that I really like. I have wanted a S13 coupe for a few years now. I can justify dumping way too much money into a car that I actually like and enjoy as apposed to something that I don't. I will miss the the nearly equal leangth double withbone front and rear suspension of the FD. But not the prices of parts for it.:D

Welcome! Just don't let the cheapskates and lowballers get to you when sourcing parts (not implying folks on this board of course).
