Hey guys,
I've got a set of Super Advan SA3's (16x7 and 16x8 +32...aka Ebay special) on my S13 and want 16x8 all around....but I've given thought to going 5lug eventually too...so I've come up with some ideas....and you guys can tell me if I've lost my marbles or not.
Option 1.
Afaik, the SA3 is 2 pc. That being said, do I have a way of getting them re-barreled via Kodiak or some other means (maybe talk to RB Motoring or Memoryfab eventually).
Option 2.
If the above isn't possible, I'm tempted to grab a set of 16x7 and 16x8 +32 in 5lug, and just swap the 16x7 4lug face to the 16x8 5 lug wheel...and bolt on. BUT, would that keep the same offset?
I would think, based on wheel design and construction, that the offset is determined by the barrels, not the face. And that the face is the same dimensions for all 16" SA3's.
Option 3.
Same as above, but keep the wheels around for going 5lug, and swap the face on the 16x7 5lug to the 16x8 4lug so I can use them. And then of course sell the 16x7's as a set for cheap since demand will be low for such a narrow wheel.

Eh, sell the whole set and buy something else lol. Too much work for 16x8s.

Yea. I think you can get 16x8 RPF1s in 4 lug.

I would, but I like the SA3's a lot.... Actually, a lot more than I thought I would, and they're nice and light.
Buying RPF1's is a good bit out of my price range.
I guess I'll just run 225's all around until I figure something out.

I see 16x7, 16x8 +32 SA3s on zilvia all the time. you could buy another set and combine the 16x8s and sell the 16x7s as a set. I don't know about RPF1s in 4 lug in the states, had a friend try and fail to get them.

I see those wheels for sale all the time. Just find a better set. You seem to be one of the only people that still likes them so it shouldn't be hard to get a good deal if you keep your eyes open.
And for the price I see stuff like that go, it would be cheaper to buy another set than to get new barrels made.

Those wheels aren't FS 'all the time' in 16x7 and 16x8 +32 guys. I check Zilvia's FS section EVERY DAY and have seen them in that setup once in the last 3 months. I did spy a set of 17x9 +22 ones on Ebay...but 5lug...and 5lug isn't in the budget unless I have a wheel bearing die on me sometime soon.
Wiisass, I'm keeping my eyes peeled, but I think I'm going to just keep them for daily commute and grab some FN's in 17x9 +20 4 lug and 255/40/17 RT615 for autoX. Just checked Edgeracing earlier for specs on them...and well...my Evo buddy was telling the truth...he really did get the last set...lol.
Regarding the 16x8 RPF1...Edgeracing says they can get them. But if I'm going to stick w/ 4 lug, FNs is the easier choice. I might just end up getting autoX wheels on the SCCAforums' FS sections.
I checked it earlier and am kicking myself for wanting to get rid of the Miata. There are some 13x8.5 Panasport C8's on there w/ Hoosier A3's for like...$1k...and those wheels are just HOT, light, rare, and strong. Not to mention one guy has the front barrels to make them 13x9.5 (iirc) so someone can run the new 255/40/13 Hoosiers....
Oh, and one gripe about living in AL....NO ONE keeps wheel spacers in stock...that amazes me.... Oh well. Guess the S13 won't make it to Little Dega this weekend for the Time Trial event.
edit: Sorry for the vent....local 'wheel' shops just suck around here.

I don't know, I see them a lot, in varying sizes. And they don't seem to sell very quickly. Just keep checking all the good places or just get the FNs. I mean, you should know that if you're hunting for used wheels, they aren't always going to come up exactly how you want them. So the offset might be a little different, the width, etc.

Trust me, I'm aware of that. The SA3 was only made in certain widths and offsets, so my selection is limited, but oh well...I'm not overly worried about it.
