For those that run 275/40/17 R6s... the 315/35/17s and 335/35/17 have the same tire height.. but are of course wider.
I was looking at tire sizes and noticed this... I've seen some mustang road racer fit those sizes all around... looked wide alright... also seen an e36 bmw and a vette running 315/35/17 all around.
For those that can get away with 275/40/17 tire height maybe these tires are an option for a track tire... perhaps... other clearance issues may arise obviously but just a thought since no one's considered this as far as i know. Fitting on 17x11 all around.

I want a 265/35-17 or 275/35-17. Why don't these tires exist? Seems like it'd be a pretty popular size for A LOT of cars with aftermarket wheels.
I'd try harder to fit wider tires if they had a reasonable OD for the car.

because manufacturers are idiots and i guess don't listen? Or partly because they want to market 18", 19", etc... wheels now vs 17s.. being the new 16

I agree Def, I think the WRX/Evo/BMW crowd goes to 18s just to get shorter wide tires and because bigger wheels look cool, so it's easy to want to rationalize it. It blows my mind that not a single short 17" tire exists though, at least not in tires that matter.

When everybody jumped ship from 16 to 17 all the tire choices went away...I can't rationalize 17's...I refuse to try, I got EVO8 brakes under my Z32 rims, I can't ask for more brake.
eh
You know the Wilwoods would be more ultra-pimp than those junky EVO brakes that turn brown if you actually ever brake hard with them.
16's never really had great tire choices anyway. Back in the early 90's that was the hot tire size, but they generally weren't wider than 245's on almost any car. Then every performance car started coming out with 17's to fit larger brakes(easier). The 16" tire market never really got off the ground, so besides stuff to put on maybe the occasional Z32, it's more geared towards Hondas and stuff working to squeeze a little 215 underneath their car.

Speaking of those, how is the kit for the 12" rotors coming along?

You mean the brownbo's as everyone I know calls them :)

Only options were a 225/50 or a 245/45 for our cars, and of those sizes, there are not as many tire choices.

If you are fine never getting wider than 245's, the only reason to go 17" is to fit some brakes underneath. It sucks pretty hard that I am forced to go 18" for the width.
Someone start a tire company. :)
