So I was going over the rules again for street Touring for Auto-X and under Section 14.2 Line D is says "Alternate steering wheels are allowed except steering wheels with integral airbags may not be changed"
Does that apply to us?

I'm not quite sure if they consider it integral airbag or not. You might ask the local chief tech steward for their interpretation on it. It's technically not illegal (DOT law-wise) to remove an airbag, but it may be "against the spirit of Street Touring" according to SCCA. The person that's got to approve is your local tech steward, so if he's happy then you're good.

That said, I've got a nice OMP wheel and a Momo adapter I'm about to list for sale if you're interested..

I don't see how the s14 wheel wouldn't be an integral airbag. But then again, I don't own an s14...

If your steering wheel has an airbag in it, it's "integral". I just took a quick look as an S14 FSM to make sure. It's removeable (in case it needs to be replaced?) but it's a part of the steering wheel.

i was thinking the same thing.

i've got an s15 wheel with airbag, (i'm guessing it will work) so that might pass. but i also am not very fast or go to races that matter.

Damn, is the 15 wheel smaller or same size as the 14 wheel?

I thought airbags were required in 93 or 94?

For the Maximas at least, they were optional in 92, then standard in 93 and 94. new body style for the Maxima in 95 and they added pass airbag then.

Yeah I have to say a Canadian S13 would probably be the only I'd buy because Factory Manual Belts + ALL VLSD = Win IMO. But I still have the S14 Luv's ;)
