Greetings NRR, I've always researched and worked a lot in engine performance with the Z31 crowd, but I'm starting to work on track prepping this stock suspensionally z31. As far as my modification list goes I've knocked out everything easy to do, and everything here on out is starting to push into the fab needed envelope which is what I'm excited about, just need the time to do it.

Anyways, here's a couple pictures of er

Progress so far is the usual, intake, exaust, fmic, e fans, mbc, wideband o2 system, t3/t04e, nistune, dxd clutch, and a litany of supporting tweaks and things to go with it. Essentially nothing suspension wise excluding a poly bushing here and there.

I heard about the forum through a friend mentioning it off hand and it sounded like the group of people I'd like to learn from in order to build a machine that handles well.

My plans so far include an s13 rear subframe swap, and a coilover conversion for the front. What I need to learn about now is what I need to know about the car to best choose the coilovers to fit my needs, kinda have a large scale plan at the moment now I need to find the details. If I can get that done with some wheels and rubber wrapped around them this summer I think I'll be able to get some track time in and start really finding this cars short commings and go from there.

Thanks for readin'

HAH! Speak of the devil. Just the other day I was reading a thread about a really sexy z31 (blue) that had an s14 subframe swapped in.

Go for the s14 subframe over the s13 :)

must be talkin about butters, that car is a work of art. I've already got an s13 sub sittin around, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for an s14 able to donate from, if I can land it, I'd love to.

Ya you should check our threads on here trying to rid ourselves of s13 subframes for s14 subframes due to geometry changes.

I know that track! :)

... I lost my first wedding ring not far from that picnic table... :(

^Damn... That reminded me of how I lost my baller ring the first day I saw my wife to be in my 240sx... Then voila I end up married to her and get a new wedding ring LOL.

I wonder how beneficial an s14 subframe would be over an s13 considering the Z31 and S13 have different shock mount points. I'm looking for the threads on the benefits in geometry, maybe once I have it all figured out I can do the measurement and math myself.

My understanding is that the Z31 track width is about 90mm wider than the 240sx. From an ease of installation view you might be better off with a Z32 subframe. However, since you're even considering a subframe swap, rules probably aren't a problem and you can modify the one you've got to fit. Along the same lines, if you already have an S13 subframe and are willing to modify it, it wouldn't be hard to correct the anti-squat problem. You'd just have to relocate the pivot points for the lower control arm.

I know a guy that runs a Z31 in Autocross and it's very well developed.

Welcome to the Forum Rob. This place has a lot of info regardless of whether you're lurking or posting. Everyone here seems to be friendly and is willing to answer questions. Also the depth of the conversation is beyond just the answer.

Car is still looking good, I haven't seen it in a LONG time.
