I have a set of 17x9 +27 MB Competition wheels at the local tire store getting some used 235/45/17 Advans (evo8 takeoffs) thrown on them right now. I should have some pictures with them mounted on the car tonight or tomorrow :).
They did weight a tad more than I was expecting. My digital scale showed them tipping at 20.5lbs each. Not bad though for $560 shipped.
I didn't care to much for the street setup, the car is hardly used on a daily basis as it is and the wheels might see 2 wet track days per year... so inexpensive wheels that are somewhat strong was ok with me.

I have MB Weapons and they've held up fine to many track days, daily driving on crap Chicago streets, etc. Great bang for the buck if you're 5 lug. The price with tires from discount tire was unreal since they have free mounting/balancing/shipping.

I got them on tonight, kind of funny looking at a 235/45/17 mounted on a 17x9 versus a 275/40/17 mounted on a 17x9 :)
Nothing special...

lol... McCoy will be the most popular dude on Zilvia. :D
Seriously, though, those wheels are really underrated, and I'm surprised more people don't have them.
Looks good, though, and it should stick good with those A046s. :D

I agree these wheels are underrated, I have a chance to get some used in the same offset for my S14, but I wasn't certain how they would fit.
Are you running any spacers?
Turtl - What offsets are yours?

Nice, I've got the same ones in gunmetal with +17 offset.

Mine are +17. My car is pretty low and my fenders are rolled but not pulled with 245/40 MXs. Fits well, but really flush. I doubt the +27 would clear most standard front coilovers. However, my rears are very close to the fender lips, so I'd recommend either running your car a bit higher than mine or getting +27 and using a small spacer in front (5-10mm).

I like the wheels alot, just not the color. I should have done as Richard suggested and just painted them before having the tires mounted. The paint chipped off in a few spots with just touching the impact socket when I was mounting the wheels, so I don't feel so bad about doing a DYI paint job on these in the near future.
Ross, it took me a while to decide on the comp's -vs- Weapons, it mearly came down to less spokes is easier for cleaning :)

Good call there, cleaning them is annoying for sure. I liked the Comps too but hadn't seen pics of them on a S14 and the Weapons were a little cheaper. The finish is chipped/curbed in spots, but I think I might paint them a ridiculous color this summer since I just use them at the track or on the street occasionally. Lime green or neon orange are the top contenders for now.

Why did you get rid of the Volks Monty? Those look good though.

No real good options in wide 17" wheels in a 4x114, so I went 5 bolt.

I just ordered a set of these wheels since I sold my Work Emotions. I don't feel like bending and bashing and scuffing wheels that are $300 a piece, so I decided to get some that are half that price.
I ordered the 17x9 +17 (same size as my Emotions) and I plan on getting some 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Z1s. :D I drove a buddy's Subaru at an auto-x with these tires and was pretty impressed. It's also nice that 255 Z1s are the widest 255 non-R-comp I've ever heard of (10.4"!).
I'll post pics when I get everything on.

Please do keep us updated on the Dunlops. For the money, they look like a hell of a tire

I have worn out Eagle F1 GS-D3 on my 240, I need some cheap temp replacments until i can get the setup i want lol... i saw the direzza z1 as a good price, tell me how they are compared to falkens, re01rs, etc.. apparently they are 'better' but more affordable heh... but limited sizes...

I didn't have a lot of seat time in the Subaru (3 runs), but from that, I can DEFINITELY tell that they have stiffer sidewalls than the RE-01R, which are the tires I had before.
I also found this tidbit from SCCAForums... I don't know much this is worth (I don't know who the guy is who posted this), but I had a lot of same feelings about the Z1s.
We ran the Dunlops at the CSCC season opener, and were surprised at the results. We took 1st and 2nd in STU. The top STU STi was running in SM and ran a time between our 2 raw times. The fastest STU BMW M3 in the country was also there, but they had issues putting power down in the first run group. Conditions were about 55 deg and dry, 2 drivers, with full tread tires.
I would speculate the 245/40-17 Direzzas Z1s are faster than the Bridgestone RE-01Rs, that I was running the last 4 events, by about .5 sec on a low 50 sec course. This would be for my front heavy, front drive biased Evo. The Dunlops seem stiffer, brake better, and don't break away as easily in the front as the softer RE- 01Rs.
Also the Z1s are much more heat tolerant. We ran 6 extra runs in the 3rd group in ~70 deg temp. Where the RE-01Rs would go off in about 2.5 runs, the Dunlops were good until the 6th run.

Tirerack has a test with the Dunlops vs Bridgestone RE-01R and the Yokohama Advan Neova. They did not win but the diffences were pretty small and these tires are alot cheaper then the other 2. I have really been thinking about upgrading from my Falken 615's for the upcoming autox/track season. Z1, RE-01R, Toyo R1R, and the Ecsta XS (if it comes out in time) are all on my list for my SE-R.

FYI - I just bought a set of the competitions in 17x9 +27 used and was looking at ordering the 17x8 +22's for the front.
After speaking with my Local Discount tires he checked the inventory and they are running low on stock (less than 10 per size). His IMPRESSION was that they are clearing out stock and discontinuing these wheels.
The MB Wheels have some new designs that are most likely replacing the Competition and Weapon wheels:
Gear - 17X7 5-114.3 +48 and +43 and 17x8 5-144.3 +46
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/wheelProductBySize.go?rcz=98012&rc=WASINT&tc=MBMGEA&wd=17&bp=5-114.3*5-4.5*5-4.5%2F5&rw=
http://www.discounttire.com/product/wheels/mbmgea.large.jpg
Speed - 17X7 5-114.3 45 and 17X8 5-114.3 46
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/wheelProductBySize.go?rcz=98012&rc=WASINT&tc=MBMSPE&wd=17&bp=5-114.3*5-4.5*5-4.5%2F5&rw=

As you can see the new styles have crappy offsets for RWD and it doesn't appear that they will offer the +27, +22, +17 that were available for the Competition and Weapon wheels.
If you want the low offset Competition or Weapon wheels make sure you order ASAP.

That sucks. I like the looks of those new wheels, but the sizes are useless like you said. 17x9 all around is a good bare minimum size to run on these cars.

Yes, those offsets and widths do suck. If the MB Comps were my track wheels, I'd be picking up another 1 or 2 wheels just for backup :)

Any updates on this set of wheels/tires?
I am getting hopefully this week my set (except +17 and 255/40/17 rt-615)... I WISH I could get 18" rpf1... but alas not this year juts not gonna happen :( This will do for now... still gonna be cool :)
I'm going to have to do some serious pulling and rolling haha

^Yes, you will. I run rpf1's in 17x9.5 +38 with a 255/40 azenis in the back, and it requires rolling rear fenders.

My updates on the this setup is in the general section of the site... I did a track day (low 30's and ending in snow) back at the end of March.
As for street driving, I have no complaints... of course the tires I have are not that cheap unless you have friends that give them away, like what happens to me, at 1/10th the cost :). So far for street/wet and cold track days, I'm quite happy with them comparing them to RE-01R's and Azenis.
