Currently I'm making housings for the following...S13/S14
Front Setup: S13/S14
Custom Housings $375 (includes housing, gland nut, powdercoating)
Fits the following dampers:
Koni 8611-1257
Koni 8610-1436
Rear Setup:
*S13
Housing can be made for Z32 fork mount
-Custom Housing $375
*S14
Housing Can be made for Z32 fork mount
-Custom Housing $375
On the rear of any of the setups you also have the option of running a Koni Yellow shock rather than the 8611/8610 setup. It works well, and helps keeps the cost down if you are on a budget.
Complete S14 setup (8611-1257 insert) with Z32 rear mounts
Assembled S13 Front with a Silk Road RMA8 for comparison. This is a V1 housing, which is 2 revisions old.

What is the best way to run a Koni Yellow on the rear of an S14?

It bolts right up with the GC sleeve, are you using a camber plate Ross?

I forgot to include that I have Z32 uprights. I plan to use spherical bearing upper mounts both front and rear. I don't even have the stock suspension stuff anymore.

so you are able to get 8610 and 8611?
I'd like to know how much those would be right now for my s14 fronts.

I can get either one. The last ones I ordered I paid $162/ea and $259 respectively, but I'm working on getting better pricing.

Noob here...
How much would a set of 8611'sfor front and rear, with housings for 95 s14 stock hubs be, and would I have to outsource the g/c coilovers and tein camber plates? Are these still available?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm torn between koni's and kw v3 suspension, and this is the only forum which doesn't cater to the drift crowd or the JdM yO.
Thanks.

The only thing I heard about the KW V3s that seemed "confirmed" is that the damper lengths are fairly long/tall - especially above the spindle mount up front. I think they were designed more along the lines of a mild lowering setup from stock. It works with other cars, but S chassis cars come stock absolutely jacked up, so you really do need to get an honest 3-4" lower to get the CG to a reasonable location.
I think you might run into travel issues with them.

Thanks for the replies, I'm running kw's on my current auto-x 3rd gen mr2 and love the setup, but I'm really leaning into getting the konis for my s14. I was also wondering how to adjust the compression on the konis, ( i have the normal s14 rear suspension upright. ) if not maybe i'll just go with the 8610's on the rears.

I stand a better chance of making the rear S14 work for a standard upright, but unless your autox/road race class outlaws Z32...it really is better and easier all the way around.

Well, I've checked, and for my local auto-x dsp or sm wouldn't allow for the z32 uprights, I'll go with the 8611 front and the 8610 rear combo with custom bodies, and ground controls, I was thinking of 6kg f 5kg rear, but do you have any suggestions. ( I know they can be easily changed later ) Is this a doable setup? if so, how much? how long?

PJ is running Z32 uprights, so it has to be allowed within SM rules.

Really? I thought changing the suspension mounting points wasn't allowed?

I agree, From what I understand suspension points cannot be changed unless it's in some form of mod (em, dm, etc.) or prepared class.
Can you pm me with details, I haven't recieved the last pm yet, thanks.

Yeah, that's what I thought... according to the Solo rulebook, 16.1.E:
Suspension components are unrestricted as long as they use the
original attachment points. For the purposes of this rule,
“suspension” is defined as any item that is designed to move
when a wheel is deflected vertically. This includes shocks and
struts, control arms, steering knuckles, uprights, etc., but not tie
rods, steering racks, and subframes. In addition, shock absorber/
strut upper mounts are to be considered suspension
components.
I would think that "original attachment points" means using stock or like-stock components, but you could argue that it means that you can't re-engineer the entire suspension (i.e. convert struts to double-wishbone).
Hmm... maybe Ace can clarify.

I double checked with PJ and Z32 uprights are legal because they are outboard, and are listed in the "section" that spool sample quoted.

The original attachment points are where moving peices attach to the chassis or subframe, not the suspension components themselves. This implies that anything outboard of the chassis-side mounts is unrestricted. The clarification within the rule specifically states that shocks, struts, control arms, knuckles, uprights, etc can be replaced.
It goes further to state that the upper mounts are considered suspension components, and can also be replaced. In theory you could stretch the rule to create an a-arm mount that bolts into the stock strut hat mount (leaving the original attachment point in place), but no one has gone so far as to attempt it AFAIK.

Ah, okay. That passage is a little ambiguous, and I basically read it as, "You can't completely change any of the mounting points anywhere, whether they attach to the chassis or are part of the suspension."

Same price as the others Blair. The B13 rears use the same flanges as the S13 fronts to offset them for increased clearance.

Richard the ones you've built for me include Koni 8611-1257 front correct what about the rears? S13 z32 fork setup. I see you list the s14 z32 fork setup as 8611-1258. I am going to guess they are valved differently?

Ahmed, The S13 front/rear use the same koni insert. So that means you have (4) 8611-1257's

You want to PM me a price on everything needed for a full race setup. I think I might be better off going like koni 3011s or something like that, but I figure you`ll know.
Spring rates roughly:
12K front
10k rear
Mainly an autocross car, but will see some track. I already have koni short race bump-stops (left over from another koni/ground control setup), but I need everything else! Camber plates/Solid mounts in rear would be great too if you can get them!
Anyways, PM me!

I've made a few, but there really hasn't been a whole lot of interest for the b series.

Richard, there are a couple of guys on my local forum that are on here too I think, or at least know of your housings, and were wondering when and if you will make more of the S13 ones.
I told them you were taking 6 weeks off for your newborn and recovering wife.

I am ready to start making them again.
My daughter is actually 8 weeks old now, and I have a little more time now.

Just would like to know about how much it would cost for everything. They would be going in an s13 with stock hubs.
8611 front
8610 rear
Both with everything.
Thanks,
