There was an issue with the last batch of flanges (they accidently cut Sentra flanges). The correct ones shipped out on Friday though, so I should be able to knock them out pretty quick from that point on.

when summer comes ill definitely want this... I hope the prices stay the same or get lower heh... ill want 8611s front and rear... don't stop making :) I just drove my 240 today uninsured lol... no snow/salt on road... God what a feeling...........! I missed my car... can't wait until feb-march... there shouldn't be any snow anymore then God willing... made me remember today why I love 240s :D lucky you guys who don't have snowy weather down south :)

I don't intend to stop making them for awhile, so you should be pretty safe.=) There isn't any snow really on the left coast either, but there is a lot of that wet stuff.

It has already snowed like 10 times here in Chicago. Aren't you in Canada?! I can't count on the snow being gone until April...February is gonna suck. It's cool to see so many people getting in on this and trying to properly set up 240s. I would have never seen this coming a year or two ago.

Well last year what happened was it only snowed in january and february crazy then march was an on and off thing just in beginning mostly snow but it did snow once or twice even beginning of april it was anoying!
This year it began snowing december, january too, but suddenly now it SEEMS to be going away, so i hope its going to be an early spring as it was an early winter?... I don't know i JUST hope so.
It all melted away in the last week it was frickin awesome, now its mostly raining lightly which is fine washing away all the dirt left overs.. I REALLY hope we dont get no more snow gah i hate it!... I wana switch insurance from my winter car to the 240...

Before I can order the rear bearings to weld on I need to double check the dimensions of the stud in the stock upright. If someone has some laying around and a digital caliper it'd be great to know the size, so I don't have to track someone down to measure their car.
if it can wait until Sunday I will have the Nissan in garage queen mode up on stands, so I can pull off a rear shock and measure.

What measurements do you need? Length, diameter, thread pitch? Will the mearsurement of the ID of the stock rear shock work? Do I need a caliper? I assume the s13 doesnt get the 8611 option with the stock upright, correct?

I could space the bearing down a 1/2" or something to allow room for the compression adjuster on an S13, but the downside is that you would have to remove the insert from the housing to adjust it.
I have a set of Silk Roads in the garage to measure the opening in them, but I prefer to take the measurement directly off the stud. I'll have it measured on someone's car this weekend, if it's not done by then.

As soon as I get them back this weekend I'll snap some side by side pics. It won't add suspension travel because the height is the same from the spring to the hub flange. The longer strut adds 1/2" of shaft travel is all, but that doesn't necessarily equate to more travel. You would have to run a longer spring and move the hub flange up further as well.

So I guess the 8611s are a longer strut then the 8610s? I guess technically then the rear housings could be made even shorter then to not have to droop the spring at all?
Also are those black fronts the newly designed ones? Do you have a picture comparing them to the old design?

these are the housing that allow for more camber. Look at the bolt holes in the flanges that mount to the spindle. The upper mount hole is moved inward more, to allow for more camber.

These have the new flanges, but are not built off the new jigs. They were already made before the jigs were.
The 8610 is only available in 2 lengths, rather than the 8611 which is available in twice that.

Koni's are manufactured in Holland. They keep a decent stock of most things in the Kentucky, but we are going through more 8611's than they are used to. So it'll take them awhile to overcome this shortage. This whole shipment is sold out (to all of us) and we'll be getting part of the next one as well.

It'll never happen...as much as it would simplify things. It's too expensive to setup the compression damping on the side of the damper rather than the bottom.

The main issue that I'm encountering is dealing with Koni over the 8611-1257 inserts (the front inserts and same one is used on the rear S13).
Koni has very much under guessed what the need would be and didn't order very many. I'm doing what I can to get what I can out of this order, but so far I've only secured 6 from this shipment and I've ordered 16.

veilside180sx

Pro Parts/Truechoice I'm betting are the only ones that got any allocation. (they charge close to $40/insert more though) I'm sure ZZYZX is in the same boat that I am, as they don't sell any more than I do. (from what I've seen...probably less than I do)

Yeah, the EM Sports are pretty similar to what Richard is making but with extra features... the built-in bump adjuster is a good idea, changing the compression with a screwdriver is a PITA.
The Competition version is like $3000 without camber plates, though.

nice job on the new placement, i think people will like that much better. a whole inch should be just about right.
Yea, I think an inch will be a good compromise between droop and getting that slizzammed look. The Koni supplied bumpstops are so long that you will still probably be getting quite a bit of bumpstop to slow the car down before tire/fender contact is made if you're dorifto low.
I'll probably have to step up to some 6" or longer springs up front though if I upgrade. Small price to pay.

Yep. Just get a tiny flathead - if you don't have one already - and keep it in the car with the rebound adjuster.
And a built-in adjuster would be nice, but it's not needed and would probably jack the price up more.

There's no way to "build in" an adjuster. You'll see when you get some.
Just get a stubby flathead. It's easy, you just reach down and click-click to whatever level you want.

I need to measure the camber I can get on my fronts. It's quite a bit...I think there may be a happy medium regarding camber and clearance between the first run housings, and this batch. My Z33 wheels won't fit w/o spacers, but they're 17x8 +32 or something, so pretty marginal regarding general wisdom for wheel fitment with coilovers. I'm also using 7" springs up front. Definitely doesn't help clearance. But yea, I'm guessing at least -10* camber is doable with the housings and the ebay plates.

Yup. I've currently got both generations of housings, and somewhere in the middle is where they need to be :P I ended up not being able to use the 2nd generation housings due to 18x10 +10's not clearing the springs I had (might've cleared if I used shorter springs and raised the perch).
The first gen housings I have didn't allow me to get any more than about 1°of camber (probably even less). I ended up using a hole saw on the camber plates to extend the slot inboard, and that got me to about 2.5°. Slotting the upper bolt hold on the housing flanges netted me another 0.6°, bringing me to a total of 3.1° on both sides. Ideally, I think I'd want to be able to get to about 4° max (with my "customized" camber plates), and adjust down from there (depending on spring/ swaybar rate). I'll do some further testing with the housings I have and get some hard numbers on where the upper and lower bolt holes need to be.

A lot of them are on their way (dampers)...I'm not going to trust what I'm told until I have them here though. The GC should either be with them, or right behind them as well.

At least the top 2/3 of the list would be covered, but more than that. (including yours=) I'll have to double check it.

Hm, learned a lot by googling that. Never realized that same sweet base stocks that keep my motors lubed are also cooling F22s.
That's an F-35. AA-1 test plane to be exact.
But yes, it makes a nice dielectric cooling fluid. We use Castrol in the lab. It's not cheap...
