That's a pretty huge stagger, and a 275 on a 8" wheel is really pushing it IMO. I would just go with some tires that fit the wheels better if its for HPDE use and you just want to have fun. Going with ridiculous tire sizing only makes sense to me when competitive classing dictates it (i.e. stock class autoX, 285/30/18 on 18x8).

The 275/40/17 really shouldn't be run on anything less than a 17x9. The largest I would go on a 8" would be 245/45 or 255/40. If you wanted a cheaper long lasting tire I would run the RA1 or NT01. They will last a lot longer and be a lot cheaper in the long run, unless your really scoring a good deal on takeoffs. Citytireonline.com has a great deal on NT01's as well.

Instead of purchasing 1 extra wheel, you could always purchase a set of 17x9's (used) and then run your 275 in the rear and a 245/255 up front. I agree with everyone above that you shouldn't run such a big stagger...

I am currently running 17x8 all the way around. 235 40 17 front 255 40 17 rear I am pretty confident that a larger 17x9 in the rear would give the car better high speed cornering stability. You want a brick not a buldge. at least thats my .02 cents.
